TSI Pre-Assessment
Lamar Institute of Technology
The Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requires all students to do a Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) prior to taking the Texas Success Initiative Assessment TSIA 2. During the PAA, students may complete a sample TSIA 2, explore possible exemptions, learn about the co-requisites offered at Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) and identify Institute resources available to students, such as tutoring and financial aid. For LIT, reading this page and reviewing the links below is your PAA. You may review the links, including the study guide, and spend as much time as you like. Upon completion of the reading, please enter the requested information below and hit the email button upon completion of the reading. We will receive an email letting us know you read the information and you will receive an email with further instructions for registering for the TSIA 2.
Students prepared to do college-level work graduate at twice the rate of students who are not prepared. Lamar Institute of Technology (LIT) wants all students to be prepared for academic coursework and to meet their educational goals in order to graduate.
Assessments are indicators of academic performance and are required before, during and after college. The first assessment students are required to complete is the TSIA 2. First time students who plan to enroll in an institution of Higher Education in Texas must complete the TSIA 2 to assess their academic skills. The TSIA 2 will help to determine if a student is ready to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework in reading, writing and math.

Co-Requisites
As part of the Texas Success initiative, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has recognized the varied needs of students. As a result, Lamar Institute of Technology offers alternative interventions to help students complete developmental education. One of the interventions currently offered is Co-requisites in Math (TMTH) and English (INRW).
